Nicknamed "specklebelly" -- "specks" for short -- for the black splotches on its breast, the Greater White-Fronted goose is the tastiest and highest prize of the goose world. It's crucial to identify these guys because it's illegal to shoot them at certain refuges at certain times of the season. So you have to be on your A game.
Luckily, they're pretty easy to pick out. With their orange bill, white butt and splotchy belly, it's really a no-brainer. They look dark against the blue sky compared to the brilliant white with black wings of the snow goose.
